El mapa de formas

Corto = -er/-est; largo = more/most. Nunca mezcles las dos formas (no "more fast").
TipoFórmulaEjemplo
adjetivo corto-er + than / the + -estfaster than · the fastest
adjetivo largomore + adj + than / the most + adjmore useful than · the most useful
igualdadas + adj + asas good as
desigualdadnot as/so + adj + asnot as fast as
irregularesgood/bad → better/worsebetter than · the worst
  • Nunca doble comparativo: *"more bigger" ❌.

  • DIFERENCIA GRANDE: much / far / a lot + comparativo: "much cheaper", "far better".
  • DIFERENCIA PEQUEÑA: a bit / slightly / a little: "slightly more expensive".
  • PROGRESIÓN: "comparativo and comparativo": "cheaper and cheaper", "better and better" (cada vez más).
  • SUPERLATIVO reforzado: "BY FAR the best", "easily the most popular".

Reading · "Two phones, one reviewer"

Read the review and underline every comparative, superlative and as…as:

I have owned both the Nova X and the older Nova Lite, and the difference is surprising. The X is far more expensive, but it is also by far the better phone. The battery lasts roughly twice as long as the Lite's, and the camera is slightly sharper in daylight though much worse at night. Honestly, the Lite is just as reliable as the X when it comes to calls, and for most people it is the more sensible choice: it costs a lot less, and it is less likely to break. If you want the best screen money can buy, get the X; if you want the best value, keep the Lite. The newer model is getting cheaper and cheaper anyway.

Detrás del texto

  • "far more expensive" = big difference + comparativo largo; "by far the better phone" = superlativo enfático.
  • "twice as long as" = equativo con multiplicador (twice / three times as…as).
  • "just as reliable as" = igualdad casi perfecta.

Practice — Basic

"This phone is ___ than the old one."

"It is not ___ the new model."

"She is the most smart student" es correcto.

Practice — Intermediate

Match the sentence to its meaning:

Completa: "The X is not good the Lite, but its camera is more powerful than the Lite's."

(escribe: X o Lite)

      Practice — Advanced

      Which sentence is INCORRECT?

Write a 6-8 sentence review comparing two things you know well (two apps, two cities, two sneakers). Use: one comparative with much/far, one as…as, one superlative with by far, and one "comparative and comparative" (better and better).
