Tres capas de una historia

El sándwich temporal
- Fondo (past continuous)
La escena en movimiento: algo estaba pasando.
- Evento (past simple)
Un hecho puntual interrumpe el fondo. Se une con when.
- Flash-back (past perfect)
when vs. while
- while + acción larga (continuous): "While I was walking, it rained."
- when + evento corto (simple): "I was walking when it rained."

Past continuous: negative and question forms
Negative: subject + wasn't / weren't + verb-ing. He wasn't sleeping at midnight; They weren't playing video games all afternoon. Interrogative: Was/Were + subject + verb-ing? Was she cooking at seven? Was he walking to school? Were you doing homework when I called? Short answers: Yes, he was / No, she wasn't. Contrast with the past simple: while introduces the longer background action and when introduces the interruption — While I was studying, my brother turned on the TV; When the phone rang, we were having dinner. Write three sentences of your own: one affirmative (I was walking home at six), one negative and one question.
I was watching a movie while my sister was eating popcorn.
El PDA aplica las conjunciones when y while.
We were reading when they turned the music up and disturbed us ilustra el uso de when, porque una actividad afecta e interrumpe a la otra.
