1. Can-do statements
- Talk about your week: I’m meeting the guide at nine on Thursday.
- Say what is happening now: We’re checking the list at the moment.
- Tell a plan with no arrangement yet: I’m going to call the museum later.
- Reschedule politely: I’m afraid I can’t make Tuesday; are we still on for Thursday?
- Read a timetable: the bus leaves at 6:30.
|---|---|---|---|
| Lunes 9:00 | Daniela | We’re meeting the coordinator at nine. | arreglo con hora |
| Lunes 14:00 | Diego | I’m checking the payment list now. | acción en curso |
| Martes | Ana | I’m going to ask my parents for money. | intención sin coordinar |
| Miércoles 7:30 | Todos | The bus leaves at 7:30 from the gate. | horario de terceros |
| Jueves | Mitzi | I think we’ll change the museum for the workshop. | decisión del momento |
3. La forma y su ortografía
la forma es be más verbo con -ing, y el marcador de futuro hace todo el trabajo. la ortografía del -ing tiene cuatro casos: run-running, write-writing, sit-sitting, study-studying. los verbos con preposición conservan su preposición en el continuo: we are talking about the budget. no se duplica el auxiliar: is going meeting y are going to meeting son dos errores distintos.
| Caso | Verbo | -ing | Ojo |
|---|---|---|---|
| Persona | Afirmativa | Negativa | Pregunta |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | I’m leaving at six. | I’m not leaving yet. | Am I leaving with you? |
| you / we / they | We’re meeting them at four. | We aren’t meeting on Monday. | Are we still meeting? |
| he / she / it | She’s checking the list. | She isn’t coming. | Is she coming at nine? |
4. Ahora o después: decide el marcador
la misma frase cambia de sentido con el marcador: she is meeting clients ahora, she is meeting clients at five.
|---|---|---|
| We’re testing the microphone. | We’re testing the microphone at six. | acción en curso vs arreglo |
| She’s speaking with the driver. | She’s speaking with the driver tomorrow. | el tiempo lo dice tomorrow |
| I’m not wearing my uniform. | I’m not wearing my uniform on Friday. | intención firme |
| Are you listening? | Are you coming on Saturday? | pregunta de ahora vs de agenda |
“He’s talking to the supplier” can mean now or later because
Which sentence shows an arrangement already fixed with another person?
“She is meeting clients at five” describes an action happening now.
A future arrangement usually includes a time or place expression.
Write the contracted auxiliary: On Friday we meeting the driver at the gate.
Correct the spelling: The bus is (run) late on Saturdays.
5. La escala de cierre: will, going to, presente continuo
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Apenas pensado | will | Maybe we’ll visit the town. | nadie más |
| 2. Decidido por ti | be going to | We’re going to ask for a discount. | tú y quien escuche |
| 3. Coordinado con otros | present continuous | We’re meeting the director at nine. | alguien te espera |
| 4. Horario ajeno | present simple | The museum opens at ten.

| Verbo | Incorrecto | Correcto |
|---|---|---|
| know | I’m knowing the answer | I know the answer |
| want | We’re wanting a discount | We want a discount |
| need | She’s needing the form | She needs the form |
| like | I’m liking this plan | I like this plan |
| believe | they’re believing it | they believe it |
| own | he’s owning the speaker | he owns the speaker |
| understand | are you understanding me? | do you understand me? |
| mean | what are you meaning? | what do you mean? |
Match each situation with the form it demands
7. Vocabulario de agenda
| Expresión | Spanish | Uso |
|---|---|---|
| meet up with | quedar con | We’re meeting up with the guide. |
| pick somebody up | recoger a alguien | I’m picking her up at seven. |
| drop somebody off | dejar a alguien | Dad is dropping us off early. |

| book | reservar | I’m booking the van tonight. |
| shift | turno | My shift starts at five. |
| deadline | fecha límite | The deadline is Friday. |
|---|---|---|---|
| A1 | La reunión se mueve de lunes a martes | We’re moving the meeting to Tuesday. | continuo de arreglo |
| A2 | El proveedor no contesta | I’m going to call him again. | going to |
| A3 | El camión sale a las 7:30 | The bus leaves at 7:30, so we’re leaving at seven. | horario + arreglo |
| A4 | Choque: dos arreglos a la misma hora | I can’t make both; which one is fixed? | disculparse y preguntar |
| A5 | Acabas de decidir comprar agua | Wait, I’ll go and buy it now. | will |
| A6 | Confirmar con quien espera | Are we still on for Thursday at ten? | pregunta de agenda |
Message: Hi everyone. Quick change. I’m meeting the van driver at 7:00 on Thursday, so we are leaving the school at 7:30 instead of eight. Ana is picking up the attendance lists at six and she’s bringing the first-aid kit too. The museum opens at ten, so nothing is changing there. I’m going to ask the office for the parents’ permission forms tonight, because two students still haven’t signed. If you can’t make 7:30, tell me today: I’ll move the pickup point to the corner, but I can’t wait after seven. Sorry for the change, and thanks for reading to the end.
— Mensaje de la coordinadora
How many future arrangements in the message involve another person at a fixed hour?
“Nothing is changing there” refers to the museum because
Which sentence is a decision made while writing?
The writer’s deadline for a reply is
Complete with two words: Ana up the lists at six, so she is ready. (un arreglo firmado)
10. Speaking y writing
| Criterio | 3 puntos | 2 puntos | 1 punto |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grado de cierre | Elije entre will, going to y continuo | Un cruce | Todo con will |
| Cortesía | Se disculpa y da alternativa | Solo avisa | Ordena |
Model week: Monday is heavy: I’m seeing the dentist at five and I’m meeting my study group at seven. On Tuesday I’m going to ask the teacher for an extension, because I haven’t finished. Wednesday is clear. Thursday, the bus leaves at seven, so I’m waiting at the gate at six forty. And on Friday, honestly, I’ll probably stay home.
— Modelo oral: mi semana
11. Errores frecuentes
|---|---|---|
| We meet the director at nine | traduce presente español | We’re meeting the director at nine |
| I am knowing the answer | estado en continuo | I know the answer |
| She is talking on the phone now at five | dos marcadores rivales | She’s talking with him at five |
| We’re going to meeting them | mezcla las dos formas | We’re meeting them |
| I’m not going school | falta to | I’m not going to school |
| planing | duplicación perdida | planning |
| runing | duplicación añadida de más | running |
| submiting | misma regla | submitting |
| Are you understanding? | estado otra vez | Do you understand? |
| The museum is opening at ten | horario ajeno como arreglo | The museum opens at ten |
“We’re going to meeting the committee” is correct.
Stative verbs such as want and need are not normally used in the continuous.
Choose the correct sentence.

Which is the most polite way to break an arrangement?
12. Guion y storyboard: what your form says about you
| Plano | Tiempo | Imagen en pantalla | Narración | Texto en pantalla |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| P1 | 0:00-0:22 | Una agenda con casillas pintadas y un reloj | The present continuous carries a calendar, not a moment. | La idea |
| P2 | 0:22-0:52 | El mismo frase con dos marcadores de tiempo | Add tomorrow and the sentence changes its whole life. | Marcador |
| P3 | 0:52-1:24 | Cuatro sillas: quizá, decisión, plan firmado, horario | Four degrees of closed: will, going to, continuous, timetable. | Escala |
| P4 | 1:24-1:56 | Una mano borrando la erre final de -ing | In speech the ending is a hum: meeting, leaving, coming. | Sonido |
| P5 | 1:56-2:28 | Un corazón y un cerebro con candado | Some verbs refuse the continuous: know, want, need. | Estado |
| P6 | 2:28-3:00 | Dos relojes marcando la misma hora | Two arrangements at nine is a scheduling problem, not a grammar one. | Conflicto |
| P7 | 3:00-3:34 | El mensaje de reprogramación enviado | Close by telling the truth about what is fixed. | Cierre |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Preguntar si alguien espera ya | sí: arreglo |
| 2 | Poner be + -ing | We’re meeting them |
| 3 | Añadir hora o lugar | at nine on Thursday |

- Write your real week with five future arrangements, each with hour and place.
- Record forty seconds reading that week out loud without notes.
- Write a rescheduling message of eight lines: apologise, give the new hour and offer a second option.
- Correct: “I am knowing that we going to meeting them at nine, and the bus is leaving at seven every day.”
- Interview two classmates: which is more fixed, their study plans or their work hours? Report with three sentences.
15. Resumen
