Before answering, decide which system the item tests: certainty, voice or report. Veintisiete reactivos en cuatro bloques y un solo caso: the projector was taken from the second floor lab between 6:10 and 6:40 on 22 September 2026. The passing band is sixteen of twenty-seven items and the top band needs a paragraph with the three systems combined.

2. El caso: the lab, the register and three testimonies

The lab was locked at 6:10, the door was found open at 6:40 and the alarm had been switched off.

The report keeps the passive while the suspect is unknown and switches to the active when somebody signs for it. Segunda: the by phrase is written only when the name adds information the reader did not have, como en el último renglón, donde la oficina sí importa. Tercera: must carries about ninety-five percent, might about fifty and can’t under five, y en el caso hay conclusiones que sólo llegan al grado medio.

A past deduction is modal plus have plus the past participle, and the passive adds been before the participle.

Reactivo 1. The projector was on the table at 6:10 and gone at 6:40. You say the theft ___.

Reactivo 2. The cleaner signed in at 7:00. She ___ the projector.

Reactivo 3. The window was unlatched. Somebody ___ through it.

Reactivo 4. The alarm log shows it was off, so somebody ___ it off.

Reactivo 5. "The alarm mustn’t have been switched off" is a correct negative deduction.

Reactivo 6. "Luis must have been in the building" is supported by a signature with a time.

Reactivo 7. Complete with two modals: the door was locked, so somebody have had a key, but the cleaner have done it because she arrived later.

4. Bloque 2: voz y agente, reactivos 8 a 14

Bloque de pasiva. The model report has six of fourteen sentences in the passive, which is normal for a school notice.

Reactivo 8. Choose the correct present perfect passive:

Reactivo 9. Which sentence needs the by phrase?

Reactivo 10. Rewrite in the passive: "Somebody switched off the alarm."

Reactivo 11. Which sentence cannot be passivised?

Reactivo 12. "My bike got stolen" is an acceptable informal passive.

Reactivo 13. Complete the modal passive: The insurance report has by the office and the window will tomorrow.

Reactivo 14. Sort each sentence into passive, active or impossible passive

5. Bloque 3: reporte de testimonios, reactivos 15 a 21

Bloque de estilo indirecto. Reported speech moves three things at once: the tense, the pronoun and the time marker.

AnaI was at the shop with my uncle, and I returned my key in 2023
LuisI signed the late register at 6:55, and I was not near the lab
CleanerI arrived at seven and they told me not to enter before the office opened

Reactivo 15. Report Ana’s words:

Reactivo 16. Report the cleaner’s order:

Reactivo 17. Report the question "Where were you at 6:40?"

Reactivo 18. Which reporting verb shows Luis rejecting an accusation?

Reactivo 19. Match each testimony to its report

Reactivo 20. Complete: Luis said he signed the register at 6:55 and that he not been near the lab.

Reactivo 21. "The lab is on the second floor" can stay in the present when reported today.

      6. Bloque 4: reporte y decisión, reactivos 22 a 27

The written product is a report of one hundred to one hundred thirty words with four passive, three reported and three modal clauses. Los seis reactivos revisan decisiones, no memoria.

Reactivo 22. Your report says "Ana took the projector" with only the old key as support. What should you write?

Reactivo 23. Which sentence belongs in the fact section of the report?

Reactivo 24. A classmate writes "She said that she is in the lab today". The best feedback is:

Reactivo 25. Which is the correct order of a real report?

Reactivo 26. The oral part requires one exclusión supported by a documented time.

Reactivo 27. In your peer checklist, what must every modal be followed by?

The model report has six of fourteen sentences in the passive, which is normal for a school notice.

Why is "a key must have been used" in the modal passive?

Complete the testimony line: Ana said she at the shop and that her key in 2023.

Before answering, decide which system the item tests: certainty, voice or report. Tapa las dos últimas columnas y resuelve.

      Mismo contenido, tres sistemas
Activa en directoVersión pasiva de reporteVersión reportada

Luis signed the registerThe register was signed by LuisShe said Luis had signed the register

El tercero muestra la cadena completa: will se convierte en would dentro del reporte y be inspected conserva su pasiva. Reported speech moves three things at once: the tense, the pronoun and the time marker. A past deduction is modal plus have plus the past participle, and the passive adds been before the participle.

Which version reports "We can’t have left it open" in the passive?

The sixth row keeps by Luis in the passive and drops it in the report. Why?

Convert to reported passive: "They will inspect the window" becomes she said the window inspected.

The peer checklist asks for the evidence behind each modal, not for perfect spelling.

      • Chequeo 5: ¿el cierre es prudente: no conclusion can be drawn…?

      • Tres conversiones: directa a pasiva, pasiva a reportada y modal activo a modal pasivo.

      15. Resumen de la unidad

must carries about ninety-five percent, might about fifty and can’t under five. A past deduction is modal plus have plus the past participle, and the passive adds been before the participle. The report keeps the passive while the suspect is unknown and switches to the active when somebody signs for it. The by phrase is written only when the name adds information the reader did not have. If the reported fact is still true, the present may stay, but only if it is true at the moment of reporting. reported speech moves three things at once: the tense, the pronoun and the time marker. A reported question has no question mark, no did and keeps subject before verb. An order is reported with told or asked plus not to, never with a that clause. The model report has six of fourteen sentences in the passive, which is normal for a school notice. The projector was taken from the second floor lab between 6:10 and 6:40 on 22 September 2026. The lab was locked at 6:10, the door was found open at 6:40 and the alarm had been switched off. in a real report the order is fact, deduction, testimony and decisión, and nothing appears before its evidence. The most expensive mistake is mixing voices: a modal without evidence or a report with the original time word. The peer checklist asks for the evidence behind each modal, not for perfect spelling. 18. Fuentes y continuidad

      1. Un caso, tres sistemas del inglés

La evaluación integra tres moldes sobre un mismo hecho: the projector was taken from the second floor lab between 6:10 and 6:40.

      2. Escala de certeza con porcentaje honesto

El grado importa: 95 por ciento es must have happened, 50 es might have, uno bajo es can't have. La negación de certeza es can't, nunca must not.

      3. Activo vs pasivo: quién aparece

La pasiva se arma con be + participio y el agente con by sólo si informa. The alarm had been switched off: no decimos quién, porque el dato no aporta. ¿Cuándo conservas el "by"?

Ana said she had been at the shop with her uncle: un past simple se vuelve past perfect. "I returned my key" →reported: ¿cómo queda?
