Write your reflection

"People felt proud and happy."Why it matters
"It shows that working together helps everyone."Share it

An INTERVIEW in English recovers memory: ask an older family or community member about a significant event - a festival long ago, the first school in the neighborhood, a flood, a migration. Prepare open questions: What happened? Who was there? How did people feel? Why do you remember it? When? Where?. Listen, take key-words notes, and do not interrupt.
Then you NARRATE what you heard, in English, in order: Long ago, in my grandmother’s village, there was a big fair. First, people prepared the food. After that, the dancers arrived. Finally, everyone lit candles. Use time words - first, then, after that, finally, in 1990, when I was… - and end with why it matters (This story is important because it teaches us how the community celebrates). Interview + ordered narration is the full product of this PDA.

How did that make you feel?", "What do you think about…?", "Why…?". Se forman con Wh- (what, how, why, when) + auxiliar (do/does/did) + sujeto + verbo: "Did you enjoy school when you were young?".
Prepara una guía de 5-6 preguntas ordenadas (de lo general a lo personal), escucha activamente y hace FOLLOW-UP ("Could you tell me more about…?"). Usa lenguaje CORTÉS (could you, would you mind), toma NOTAS y, con permiso, graba.

PRODUCT (recorded interviews in English): interview TWO people (classmate, teacher, family or community member) IN ENGLISH about their feelings, emotions and ideas regarding your school or community. First design 5-6 open questions in English (How do you feel when...? What memory makes you proud of our school? What would you change and why? What emotion comes up when...?). Then conduct the interviews: record audio/video OR write the transcript. For EACH interview submit: (1) your questions; (2) the answers (transcript or recording); (3) TWO emotions or ideas you recovered verbatim in English; (4) one thing that surprised you. If your interviewee answers in Spanish, translate the key quotes into English and note that you did so.

| Entrevista realizada | Hay registro real (audio/video o transcripción), no respuestas imaginarias. | |
Trade interview transcripts: a classmate checks whether the questions are open (could they be answered with yes/no?) and whether emotions are quoted faithfully. Receive their feedback in English about your best question, and record one change you will make in the next interview.

Un relato ordena la historia con MARKERS de secuencia (it all started when…, first, after that, in the end) y una estructura: QUIÉNES y DÓNDE (setting), QUÉ PASÓ (events), por qué IMPORTA (meaning).

PRODUCT (a story in English from collective memory): choose ONE significant event from your family, school or community that lives in COLLECTIVE memory (the day the school was founded, a flood, a festival that no longer exists, how a street got its name, a migration story). FIRST investigate: ask two or three people who remember it what happened, how it felt, what changed (you may reuse your interview skills). THEN write a NARRATIVE in English (120-160 words): (1) what happened and when, in story form (not a list); (2) at least TWO voices from your investigation, quoted in English (Grandma said that...); (3) how the event is remembered today and why it matters; (4) a title. Attach your story and a note naming WHO you asked.
