CAPÍTULO 1
My day (Mi día)
From the moment you wake up until you go to sleep, your day is full of actions — and every action has a name in English. Learn a few verbs and you will be able to tell the story of your whole day. Let's walk through a typical day, morning to night.
In the morning
Read these sentences:
I wake up. → Me despierto. I brush my teeth. → Me cepillo los dientes. I eat breakfast. → Desayuno. I go to school. → Voy a la escuela.
The action words (wake up, brush, eat, go) are called verbs. After «I» («yo»), the verb stays simple: «I eat», «I go».
At school and in the afternoon
I read a book. → Leo un libro. I play with my friends. → Juego con mis amigos. I eat lunch. → Como (almuerzo). I do my homework. → Hago mi tarea.
«Play» is one of the most useful words for a child: «I play soccer», «I play games», «I play with my dog».
At night
I take a shower. → Me ducho. I watch TV. → Veo la tele. I go to bed. → Me voy a la cama. Good night! → ¡Buenas noches!
Now you can describe a full day: «I wake up. I eat breakfast. I go to school… I go to bed.» You just told a story in English!
Tell YOUR day
Put your own day into sentences and say them out loud. Add the times if you can: «I eat breakfast at seven.» (a las siete). Try to say it five times in your head while you really do each thing this week. Describing your own routine is the fastest way to make English part of your day, not just your homework.
